Charcut’s Secret: Alley Burgers

The Alley Burger. What a brilliant concept! Charcut Roast House is continuing to increase the buzz around town with this burger. After coming on the Calgary restaurant scene with a bang (and a #6 Best Restaurant in Canada ranking from enRoute Magazine), Charcut has created a new way to generate attention: the $5 Alley Burger. This burger, a smaller version of the Share Burger that you can get off the restaurants menu, is served out the back door of the restaurant (under a wooden sign with a pig on it) at random times that are only made public on Facebook and Twitter. If it seems sketchy to wait for a burger in a back alley at 10pm, you can be re-assured by the two body guards keeping watch of the alley.

So, if you pay close enough attention to Twitter, it’s best to show up 30 minutes or more before the posted time, because it’s already that popular. Anyone who shows up late misses out. There is a one burger per person rule. Cash only. Oh, and no special requests. Of course, it’s all worth it.
