There’s a little bit of magic in the center of Carmel, and much of it lies at the Magic Circle Theatre.  Sure, there are always bars and dance clubs to hit once the sun goes down, but if you’re looking for something a bit more special that your average hotspot, this is definitely the place for you.  The Magic Circle is a small 60 seat theater that has easily the best plays in town.  Located in the heart of Carmel Valley and just a short 12 miles from downtown Carmel, this is where the locals and tourists flock to see the most contemporary live performances around.  Dress is casual, so there’s no pressure to impress at Magic Circle.  The monthly plays rotate according to season, so you’re sure to find something fresh and exciting regardless of when exactly you choose to visit the area.  Currently, the playhouse is offering a life performance of Nobody’s Perfect.  Life performances are from October 22 until November 21, at which point a new play will be shown.  The play focuses on a statistician who pens women’s romance novels in his spare time under a female pen name.  When his romance novels attract local attention, the author has to decide whether or not to out himself as a male romance writer.  The story is then complicated by a tricky love interest and some fantastic bouts of cross-dressing.  All plays put on here are local, interesting, and extremely creative.  This is definitely one of the best spots to spend an evening out in Carmel!
