Concierge picks at the Crowne Plaza Copenhagen Towers
Nightlife — By Jane Graham on May 21, 2010 at 9:35 pmThe Crowne Plaza Copenhagen Towers opened its doors in November 2009 as Denmark’s first CO2-neutral hotel building. Not only is it environmentally-friendly but it’s guest-friendly too, and prides itself on its helpful concierge service. Its location some 3 miles from central Copenhagen in the up-and-coming business region of Ørestad, close to the airport, make finding somewhere to go for a night out a little more tricky than just leaving the hotel and seeing where the mood takes you. And that’s where concierge staff like Kasper come in: he was only too happy to answer our questions on where the best night spots could be found.
Where do you send visitors when they want to have a drink close to the hotel?
We generally direct them towards Christianshavn, a couple of Metro stops away – which also has a good local vibe. The Asador lounge and restaurant, for example, has a very nice wine bar and is found right next to the waterfront. Otherwise, the cocktail bar at Custom House, in the center of Copenhagen also has a great location on the water, and is a good summer choice.
Where should they take a date?
For a dinner date, Grønnegade restaurant in the city centre is housed in a very old, historic building with lots of atmosphere and charm.
Girls’ night out?
During the summer, I would recommend the Ocean Club – a very centrally-located beach club. Then there’s A Porta restaurant and nightclub on Kongens Nytorv. Both these places offer a more mature crowd than the teenagers you might find at other clubs in the city.
Guys’ night out?
Many of the same places really, as guys generally like to meet girls! One more place though would be Tight – a restaurant and lounge with a real international feel. It’s run by one Australian and one Canadian, they own the place but they also run it, serve the drinks etc – so it has a very personal vibe.
Where do you like to go out?
Many of the places I’ve already mentioned: A Porta or Custom House, for example.
