From Fashion Gear to Designer Cakes
Events — By Jane Graham on February 2, 2011 at 11:02 pmAs Copenhagen Fashion Week kicks off, Copenhagen’s Avenue Hotel has invited Scottish cake designer David Duncan to the city to present Denmark’s first ‘Fashion High Tea’ event.
Although Fashion High Tea has now become a catchphrase among the smartest sets in New York and London, the concept is only now reaching Scandinavian shores. According to the general manager of Avenue Hotel, Mai Kappenberger, “…We look forward to spoiling style-conscious Copenhageners with (David Duncan’s) fantastic cakes and luxury version of the British high tea.”
David Duncan is a hot name right now for his baking creations—or ‘3D cakes’ as he prefers to call them—that are made unique for every single client. Amongst his cake creations are the hottest handbags of the season and a pair of stiletto heels – both entirely edible.
Fashion High Tea starts today, Wednesday February 2nd with a closed firm event before it opens to the public on Thursday February 3rd and runs until Saturday Feb 5th, from 3pm-6pm each day. Guests will be welcomed into boutique hotel Avenue’s restaurant and lounge area, where in true English-style the hotel will serve finger sandwiches, dainty cakes (all in the shape of the season’s hottest fashions, naturally), French bubbly, coffee and tea.
Cakemaker extraordinaire David Duncan will be onhand to talk about his creations, as well as personally serving the cakes.
Tickets for the event cost DKK 320, with more details of how to get them on Avenue Hotel’s website.
