Garden Walk Features Florida Natives

Events — By Julie on February 7, 2011 at 4:39 pm

Stroll among native plants and lush landscaping while getting ideas for your own tropical gardening during the annual Garden Walk presented by the Upper Keys Garden Club Friday, Feb. 25.

Encompassing Tavernier, Plantation Key and Islamorada, the garden walk includes four private gardens and one resort between mile marker (MM) 92.6 and MM 81.2.

At the Francis Tracy Garden Center, MM 94, participants can enjoy live music, a garden tea party, arts and crafts vendors, a plant ramble and an art show by the Purple Isles Art Guild.

Tours of the private gardens are self-guided, although the owners will be on hand at most locations to share information. Visitors are welcome to stay at each location as long as they wish.

Not all garden displays are located close together, so some driving is required.

Tickets with a map of featured garden locations are available for a $20 donation to the Upper Keys Garden Club. They can be purchased at the Key Largo Chamber of Commerce, Islamorada Chamber of Commerce and select retail locations.
