Perhaps you were already aware that you can ski all year round in Switzerland. But golf in the snow covered Swiss Alps? Yes, and now Switzerland has the first high-altitude golf center in Europe and it’s located in those ultra-luxurious and prestigious neighboring mountain resorts: Crans and Montana which look straight down on the Rhone River Valley in the sunny Canton of Valais and straight across to another section of the chain of Alps that include the Matterhorn and Monte Rosa. These “twin” resorts are only 2.5 hours by SwissRail from Geneva. Where else but in this internationally acclaimed ski racing resort and golf tournament venue which hosts the Omega European Masters every year could you find winter golfing? Already famous for its unsurpassed sports facilities including the latest technology in mountain lifts to the most challenging slopes for all types of winter sports equipment and activities as well as year-round glacier skiing and summer hiking, this is just another first for over-the-top-and-ahead-of-the-rest Crans-Montana.

The Crans-sur Sierre Golf Club’s new Performance Center has replaced the existing driving-range with the Indoor Golf Academy offering lessons, biomechanics coaching, a simulator, a driving swing analyzer with video, an indoor putting green with analysis, a strength platform as well as a launch monitor. This European Tour accredited facility is also available to members just wanting to keep in practice or switch sports on a snowy day. Opened in mid-December for members, the Performance Center will soon open to the public on the 1st of February 2011.
The facility has a restaurant for those golfers who just can’t get enough of their favorite sport to share with friends and family who may be spending more time on the slopes or in that little winter paradise for kids called Snow Island which is linked to the golfing Performance Centre.
