He’s finally arrived! After months of anticipation, scouting and pre-production, the move star and crews are here! Staying at the fashionable Kahala Resort, George Clooney is in Hawaii filming The Descendants. Clooney and his Italian model girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis have been spotted strolling the beaches on Oahu. Clooney has been seen wearing fabulous aloha shirts by Kahala Sportwear. Film crews have been spotted on Oahu at the Queen’s Medical Center, Nuuanu Valley and Kauai setting up filming based on a book by Kaui Hart Hemmings the step-daughter of local surfing legend and Republican State Senator Fred Hemmings.
Reports placed Clooney and about 20 other people dining in Chinatown at the tiny Duc’s Bistro on Maunakea Strret last Wednesday night. The party was serenaded by talented Mihana Souza whose mother is the late Aunty Irmgard Farden Aluli one of Hawaii’s most gifted singers. The Farden family artifacts, furniture and artwork will be used in the film.
Clooney was also spotted in Hanalei where movie trucks, lighting crews and others gathered in the tiny town to shoot scenes at the Tahiti Nui Restaurant and the Lihue Airport. Sources say that production will take place on Kauai for a week then return to Honolulu for an additional three weeks of filming.
The film is about a wealthy landowner who is a descendant of Hawaiian royalty who sets out to find his comatose wife’s lover with the help of his two young daughters. Also in the film is Beau Bridges, Judy Greer, Shailene Woodley, Matthew Lillard, Robert Foster, Mary Birdsong and Nick Krause.
