If you are visiting Hong Kong during the summer months and have motivation to leave the air conditioned hotel room, then take the plunge at these local pools and watersports centers. The most popular swimming pool would have to be Kowloon Park Swimming Pool,

which has an outdoor leisure pool, a 50 meter indoor training pool and a diving pool. The Morrison Hill Swimming Pool in Wanchai is another recommended pool to dip your feet in.

What about learning sports and brushing up your waterskiing moves. For newcomers, the Deep water bay speed boat company has all levels of classes and experienced can get a weekend package.

Hong Kong beaches are perhaps one of the most secluded and less talked about. Big wave bay

has fine yellow and black sand so while you are there, might as well pay Cheung Chau a visit. Avoid visiting Cheung Chau during Sundays to avoid the summer crowds but instead head to the popular island’s smaller, more pleasant Kwun Yam Bay Beach and rent a Kayak from the beachside bar. Make your way around the island, which should take around two hours of solid paddling. On your way back, stop at tranquil Italian Beach and Coral Beach.

Otherwise theres always the excuse for getting in and staying in the aircon and soaking up the arts, there are tons of exciting cultural events happening in the next few months like the Chinese Opera Festival for example. The Leisure and Cultural Services Department celebrates Chinese traditional theatre with a program featuring companies from around China performing canonical works. Yet this is more much more than just 48 days of continous Chinese opera. The festival aims at introducing opera as an art form and, apart from performances by actors and opera singer from Hong Kong and China, it includes seminars, exhibitions and guided talks about the various typed of Chinese opera.

Just to end the summer nights off at Insomnia with summer cocktails, try the Tropical Orchid,
