Exciting Things Are Happening At The Culinary Arts Academy

Some very exiciting stuff is happening at the Culinary Arts Academy this month. You may recall from earlier months few of the other exciting workshops and seminars that had taken place at the Academy; but somehow the happenings of this month seem to excite me even more…

Culinary Arts Academy (MSA in short of Turkish initials) is hosting first of all the great bar chef, Cevat Yıldırım, of Lucca, the neighborhood tapas bar in Bebek. Cevat Yıldırım is also teaching regulary for the MSA in the Bar and Mixology Department. He has won several awards in the international arena with his tongue licking cocktails. The cocktails that he will be featuring at the upcoming event are:

– Strawberry Mojito
– Passion Fruit Margarita
– Dirty Martini
– Bloody Mary
– Cosmopolitan

The first of the events will be on this Sunday, the 8th of May, which is also the Mother’s Day… So, might be an interesting gift to your Mom… The second of the workshops will be on the 29th of May. Both between the hours of 11:00 – 14:00 for 130 TRY.

The second exciting news of the upcoming month is the “Rising Star Chef” from New York, Angelo Sosa, is also going to be in Istanbul at MSA for a weekend of exciting food. He will be cooking four recipes, each of which sounds like a legend on its own.

Angelo Sosa is an honary graduate from the Culinary Institute of America. He worked as an Executive Chef at the following restaurants after his graduation: New York Yumcha, Spice Market, Buddakan, Loft and Morimoto. Today he owns two restaurants, Xie Xie and Social Eatz, where he experiments with Far East ingredients and tastes. It may very well be said that he fusions his ingredients.

Sosa will be teaching participants of the workshop the following wonderful dishes:

– Sweet tomato soup with curry cream
– Beetroot (young) with foam of goat cheese and white chocolate
– Beef marinated in cacao and served with vegetables with cacao
– Nitrogen formulized, chocolate covered fruits

That last dish on the menu is what really gets me excited! So, to learn to cook one or all of these dishes, you should contact MSA immediately. Chef Sosa will be teaching on the 13th and 14th of May, between the hours of 19:00 – 23:00 and 11:00 – 14:00 respectively. (190 TRY per person)
