Lake Tahoe has long been known as a top place among the rich and famous. Musicians, sports and movie stars have flocked to the lake since the times of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Marilyn Monroe. Most only come to perform or visit the casinos, but a few come to live with the clean mountain air and pine trees.
Some of the regular residents include Sammy Hagar of Van Halen who owns Cabo Wabo Cantina in Harvey’s Casino in Stateline. You may also run into Mike Love of the Beach Boys, James Hetfield of Metallica, David Coverdale of Whitesnake, Alanis Morissete, and Toni Tenille of the Captain and Tennille. All who have houses at the lake.
You may also see Robin Williams or Leonard Nimoy, who are regulars of the Tahoe area, as well as Max Bear of the Beverly Hillbillies and Dawn Wells who played Mary Ann on Gilligan’s Island.
Some of the famous athletes who live at the lake include Wisi Betschart, who was on the U.S. ski team for ten years, Travis Cabral who was crowned U.S. Freestyle Champion at nationals and won the overall World Cup and Jamie Anderson, who is currently ranked the number one female snowboarder in the world. Skiers Daron Rahlves, Julia Mancuso, Marco Sullivan and Shannon Bahrke also call the Tahoe area home.
