On Saturday March 27th, from 8:30pm -9:30pm GMT, London’s iconic landmarks will join other world cities in turning off their lights in support of the WWF’s initiative to bring awareness to climate change. Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, London Eye and the fountains in Trafalgar Square are just a few of the participants who will dim their lights. Even the signs in Picadilly Circus will be switched off, just the 4th time since WWII.
Colin Firth, Coldplay and Tom Jones join the list of celebrities who are pledging to descend into the darkness. Patrons of the locally loved Italian chain Carluccio’s will dine by candlelight and London’s Radisson hotels will urge guests to do the same as they turn off their public lighting.
Participation is simple, sign up and flick off the lights.
