Yes, you read that clearly, human breast milk ice cream is now on sale in London’s Covent Garden. Cue the moans, groans and horrified faces. But willing tasters claim the ice cream is actually quite nice, very sweet and even creamier than regular ice cream.
Tagged Baby Gaga, the £15 ($24) scoop is served in a martini glass with a baby rusk cookie on the side. The breast milk concoction is being churned out by The Icecreamists, already well known for their raunchy twists on our favorite childhood treats.
Founder Matt O’Connor calls the dessert, “organic, free range and totally natural”.
The breast milk was purchased from a woman in Leeds and has undergone the same screening as donated blood. Proving to be popular, the parlor has sold out of their first batch and is currently searching for more donors.
March 1 UPDATE: Baby Gaga is weaning, but not by choice. A representative for the Westminster City Council confiscated the remaining human breast milk ice cream after several complaints were launched. Concern over the consumption of bodily fluids prompted authorities to request further testing of the product before sales continue.
