Waterfront Wednesday is an outdoor concert organized by local public radio station 91.9 WFPK. The concerts, which usually feature three different bands or performers, take place the last Wednesday of the month from April through September. Until 2011, Waterfront Wednesdays took place at the Harbor Lawn at Waterfront Park, near the Great Lawn. After the Ohio River flooded in the spring of 2011, the event moved to the Big Four lawn, just next to the Big Four Bridge. Past performers include Dawes, Todd Snider, Josh Ritter and Ben Sollee. Even if you’ve never heard of any of the bands, the event is free. How can you not enjoy watching the sunset over the Ohio River while listening to free music?

The 2011 series ended on September 21st, with a line-up of local band the Deloreans, J. Roddy Walston and the Business (pictured above), and They Might Be Giants headlining. We’ll be looking forward to next year’s series.
