Places to Catch the Sunset

What do a rooftop bar, an Egyptian temple, and what is commonly known as a suicide bridge have in common? Believe it or not, these are some of the best places to watch the sun go down in Madrid.

The city’s most picturesque opportunities to catch the sunset are with
a cocktail in hand at the sleek rooftop bar known as The Penthouse, or
on the western fringe of the older sections of the city, as from there
you have views down into the valley below.

The Viaducto bridge would have the best views of the sunset but for
the glass the city has put up to deter people from jumping to their
death. The view of the sunset is somewhat obstructed by the
barrier, but the bridge still offers one of the widest views around.

For romantic types on a budget, the park surrounding the ancient
Egyptian transplant to Madrid, the Templo de Debod, is the place to
have an intimate picnic and watch the sun streak across the sky.
