Maui’s favorite winery and ranch store will host “Ulupalakua Inspires” from 11 am – 4 pm on Sunday, June 5th. This unique event takes advantage of one of the island’s most beautiful settings to stage local jazz musicians performing inspired and inspirational music.
Ulupalakua, the location with the long Hawaiian name, is set in cool upcountry Maui with sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean and Maui’s sister islands. The huge, working ranch land features a variety of imported trees – many over 100 years old. Visitors can enjoy browsing the rustic ranch store which has served Maui’s paniolo (cowboys) for decades. The site also offers wine tasting at Tedeschi Winery and shaded walking pathways with beautiful and changing views (see my past post about Tedeschi Winery).
On June 5th, sit under the huge shade trees and listen to jazz musicians from 11:30 – 3:30. Take a complimentary winery tour at 10:30 to see how Maui’s wines and champagnes are created. Taste a special wine release, the 2009 Plantation Red Maui County Syrah, available for tasting on this day only. Usually, during large events like this, you can get a pretty good discount on a variety of their wines if you purchase a case. They do ship and your wine is guaranteed to get to the proper destination unharmed, so don’t worry about carrying in back on the plane.
Bring your friends, pack a blanket, spread out on the grass, and enjoy a relaxed upcountry afternoon. Who knew Maui could get even more relaxing and comfortable!?
