The Best Watering Holes in Miami

No shortage of bars here, that’s for sure. The question is: what are you in the mood for? From swank to grunge, it’s all easy to find in Miami.

Best Beer Selection: Dorothy, you’re not in South Beach anymore. Churchill’s pub is just what you’d expect from an old-school British rock music joint — not too pretty but lots of fun. Decent local music (sometimes), real local people (level of quirkiness runs very high here), and a stellar beer selection. Curry and chips aren’t too bad, either, if you’ve had a couple too many and need something to soak up the happy sauce.

Best Unique Cocktails: In the basement of the Delano lies the Florida Room, a throwback to the underground speakeasies of the American past. The crowd here is super trendy, some dressed to the nines and some more casual. Dozens of unique cocktails adorn the menu, with combinations you’d never think of but which somehow work. Add in great live music and swanky lounge decor, and this is bound to be your new favorite place to imbibe — if you can afford it.

Best Piano Bar: Relax in a time warp as the classic piano tunes float through the air while you sink further into your red velvet-cushioned armchair. Take on a Sinatra tune in piano karaoke if you dare, or just sip on a cocktail and enjoy the laidback vibe.

Best Dive Bar: What do you expect from a good dive bar? Greasy burgers, cheap beers and wells at happy hour, dim lights, tolerable live music, and old regulars lurking in the corners? Check, check, and check — Tobacco Road‘s got ‘em all. If you’re looking for the most chill place to have a couple of drinks with friends, this is the place to go.

Best Sports Bar: Tons of TVs, great nachos, ribs, and wings, and plenty of passionate jersey-clad fans clamoring for a goal/basket/touchdown — that’s Flanigan’s in a nutshell. The seafood sandwiches are pretty darn good, too. The decor is a bit tacky, but that just adds to the charm.

Best Bar Food: Sugarcane is a tapas bar with a full, fabulous drink bar as well. Sip on a caipirinha while you sample the many little plates on the menu here, from pork buns to sliders to croquettes. Mmm… fusion food and drinks at their best.
