For some of the best steak in the United States, head to Gorat’s Steak House. The restaurant has been a favorite in Omaha since it was founded in 1944 by Louis and Nettie Gorat, and is frequented by billionaire Warren Buffett. Gorat’s is probably the best place to scope out celebrities while in Omaha – Buffett has entertained business colleagues including Martha Stewart and Bill Gates at Gorat’s in the past.
Gorat’s is a fine, sophisticated Italian steak house. They offer a variety of high-quality steaks (Buffett always orders the T-bone steak cooked rare), which range from about $17-$26. There are also great seafood dishes, pasta, sandwiches, and salads. Gorat’s is a great place for families – there’s a kid’s menu that features smaller versions of the entrees.
Gorat’s is located on 4917 Center Street and is open every day of the week except Sundays. There is live entertainment in the restaurant’s lounge on Fridays and Saturdays. Since Gorat’s is popular, they recommend that you make a reservation for dinner. For hours, directions, and other information, check out their website here.
