Fashionistas, and anyone else who likes original design, need to be in Prague this weekend. Code:Mode, Prague’s free fashion weekend will be running from July 30-August 2 on Střelecký Island in the midst of the Vltava River. For four years now, organizers have brought together an eclectic group of local designers eager to show off their wares.
Booths full of independent clothing and accessory designers are waiting
anyone looking for something a little more creative and unique than what’s typically found in the shops. Be sure to check out the crazy colorfulness of La Femme Mimi or the creative patterns and textures of Veronika Benešová. From classic to casual or vintage to cutting edge, all tastes will be catered for.
And there will be more to do than just shopping. The Open Air Cinema is also held on Střelecký Island so after picking up a new pair of earrings, catch an outdoor show. Friday evening Lolita is playing while on Saturday evening The Journey will be shown. Movies start at 9:30pm. On Friday other entertainment includes yo-yo exhibitions while Saturday has a giant street puppet performance, plus circus act demonstrations like juggling. Sunday afternoon you’ll really get into the swing of things with Lindy Hop shows. DJ stages will be set up as well so you’ll have plenty of rocking musical accompaniment to your shopping frenzy.
