Days are shorter and trees are a bit more bare, but Prague is still lovely in all its gray gloominess. Atmosphere, we like to call it. If you are traveling to Prague this month, bundle up, learn to embrace grog (hot rum and water) and the infinitely more tasty svárek (hot mulled wine) and of course, stay inside with this line-up of super events.
This should be fun. The world famous Cirque du Soleil, with their beautifully artistic acts, gorgeous costumes and amazing performers will be in Prague November 12-14 at O2 Arena. The theme of the show, called Saltimbanco, is the urban experience and promises to be one of their most colorful and acrobatic yet.
End the month on a high note by taking in some swinging music. Hep cats and daddy o’s will be stompin’ and swayin’ all night long November 25-26. The first night you’ll be introduced to some Czech swing masters including J.J. Jazzmen accompanied by American jazz clarinetist Evan Christopher. Night two enjoy the big band sounds of Nothing But Swing, followed by Grammy award winning Take 6.
This is a truly newsworthy Prague art event. More than 80 pieces from the Batliner Collection, normally housed at the Albertina Museum in Vienna are on display through January 7 at the National Gallery’s Veletržní Palace. Modern European and American art is the focus with pieces as wide ranging as ones from Monet and Warhol plus other influential names like Roy Lichtenstein and Francis Bacon. Not to be missed.
