Happy New Year! We hope your holiday season was a special time blessed with family, friends and good times! January is a fairly quiet and grey time in Prague. Amedeo Modigliani
This unique exhibition presents paintings and drawings by the world-renowned early 20th century Italian painter and sculptor Amedeo Modigliani. He’s an interesting character – forging his own style by combining ancient, modern and classic art. This exhibit also includes more intimate details of the artist’s life including films, documents and photographs. Showing at the Municipal House (Obecni dum) through February 28.

International Weeks of Dance

Lovers of cutting edge contemporary dance will want to hit Nova Scena onJanuary 9-10. The first evening will showcase young talent from the Czech Republic, including members of the National Theatre’s ballet ensemble and the Southern Bohemian Theatre. On January 10, you’ll be treated to a mix of Czech and foreign conservatories. A great chance to see the future of European dance. Tickets can be bought either at the Nova Scena box office or through TicketPro.

EuroConnections 2011

Need something a bit tougher? Palac Akropolis is one of the city’s best concert venues. As part of their EuroConnections series, they bring in international acts from around the world. On January 26, the headliner is French group Chapelier Fou with the opening by a Czech band, Mythematica. Tickets can be purchased via Ticketpro.
