Even though the weather would have you believe otherwise, it’s almost summer in Salt Lake Valley. And though summer days should be hot as usual, summer evenings in the valley can offer some of the most pleasant temperatures imaginable. Which is one of many obvious reasons to check out the numerous free concerts of the Twilight Concert Series.
As usual, this series brings to town an incredible set of artists that certainly don’t have to play for free! This year’s lineup includes The Decemberists, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, Bright Eyes, Ghostland Observatory, Lupe Fiasco, and many more. (Check online for a complete lineup and other concert information.)
Formerly held at the Gallivan Center downtown, this extremely popular event had long outgrown the bounds of that venue long before it was transplanted slightly westward to its current location at Pioneer Park (300 West 400 South). Though Pioneer Park is safely west of Downtown and the city’s worst parking hassles, my number one recommendation is to ride your bicycle. That way you can also enjoy some of the many local beers for sale at the event; bring cash!
The series kicks off on July 14th this year and concludes on August 25. Shows contain two acts. Gates open at 5:00pm and the music begins at 7:00pm.
