Gastown Blues and Chili Fest

Events, free, Things to Do — By Natasha John on September 17, 2010 at 12:50 am

Last year there was one day that stuck out quite strongly in my mind, the Gastown Blues and Chili Fest. A group of friends and I had planned to go and check out some chili and some music, but time escaped us and they were packing up by the time we got there. Apparently, it was so popular, they ran out of chili. Now, if that’s not a sign of a successful first time event, I don’t know what is. This year they are back and bigger than last year!

Gastown is a bustling neighborhood these days with new apartment complexes popping up, unique stores opening their doors and plenty of tasty restaurants that draw locals and vistors down to explore.

Mark your calendars because it takes place this Sunday, Sept 19, 2010 from noon to 7pm. During the Gastown Blues and Chili Fest some of the roads are closed down to cars, a stage is set up for musical performances and tents are raised atop of the chili masters. 20 of Vancouver’s restaurants will be participating in the event and some local celebrity judges will decide who will reign supreme. Like any good time, music brings it up a notch and there will be nine live bands to entertain the crowds.

Proceeds raised will support a local music charity, so you can feel good about what you’re eating. And, in the spirit of feeling good, bring your own spoon and help reduce waste of plastic spoons!
