Mist Trail is Open for Wetness
What's New — By petedevine on May 6, 2010 at 4:35 amThe NPS Wilderness folks have opened the lower section of the Mist Trail to the top of Vernal Fall. It’s been closed since December because of the solid ice coat that builds up here all winter. Either bring raingear or plan to get a drenching between now and mid-June. At a certain point, you might call it, not the Mist Trail but the Firehose Trail.
The concessioner’s stables have also opened for the summer, with their suite of 2-hour to all-day horseback rides. Road crews continue to make progress on Glacier Point and Tioga Roads. Mariposa Grove road is clear of snow for an easy two-mile walk in to the big trees; cars will be allowed once the soils dry out a bit more.
Dogwoods in Yosemite Valley are still not quite in their full glory but it won’t be long.
