Tioga Pass Road is Open

What's New — By petedevine on June 5, 2010 at 3:46 pm

Always a momentous event in Yosemite’s annual cycle, the Tioga Road has opened for the summer this morning.  Visitors can now drive all the way across the park’s mid-section, and over the high country to the East Side.  Travelers will find an exceptional amount of snow from 7000′ up and over 10,000′ Tioga Pass; skiers will be able to play on a whole range of slopes.   No visitor services will be available for at least 3-4 weeks still.

The Half Dome cables won’t be installed for at least two more weeks.  Too much snow persists on the subdome approach to the base of the cables.
