Museums in Bangkok

We'd be lying to you if we didn't admit that sometimes part of the attraction of museums in Bangkok is the opportunity to enjoy an activity with air-conditioning. But this is certainly not the most important reason to go. Bangkok museums run the gamut. The rich history of the Kingdom of Siam and its arts, the varied ethnic groups of this portion of Southeast Asia, modern art, and classical architecture are all represented, of course. But Bangkok takes the museum scene one long step beyond, from collections of counterfeit goods and the barges of royalty to the macabre matters of forensics and prison history. Here are the Top Ten Museums to visit in Bangkok. To be sure you can go far beyond this, but this list of best museums hits the ones you shouldn't miss. The National Museum is obvious but the new highly interactive Museum of Siam and Rattanakosin Museum are superb. The collection of museums at Siriraj Hospital is something to write home about -- at times creepy and fascinating. Art and Buddhism fans should go through the trouble of finding the Museum of Buddhist Art - simply outstanding.
