Nile Guide Bangkok: Photo Friday

Things to Do — By Kevin Revolinski on March 26, 2010 at 11:21 am

Traditional Thai dancers take a break, cooling off in front of a fan at Erawan Shrine in the heart of Bangkok. The origins of the shrines statue image are Hindu and though many call it “Four-Faced Buddha” it is in fact a representation of Brahma. Devotees offer prayers and wishes and when their hopes come true they return here to pay an offering so the dancers will dance one song to please Brahma.
