Bangkok Photo Friday: Wat Bowon

Things to Do — By Kevin Revolinski on March 10, 2011 at 11:29 pm

Though an important center for Thai Buddhism, Wat Bowonniwetwihan or Wat Bowon is not typically on the tourist trail. This is where King Bhumibol Adulyadej himself was ordained as a monk.

Besides a central golden chedi, there is an abundance of great murals inside. A canal through the grounds reflects the brilliant white of the walls and structures. Have a stroll through the monk’s living area where you’ll see some colonial-style, shuttered buildings.
