New York City’s Coziest Cocoons

Hotels, What's New — By sarahpruitt on May 5, 2010 at 4:07 pm

This weekend, the N.Y. Times took a look at one of the latest trends in hotel living in New York City: the tiny hotel room. From the West Village to Midtown, the newest hotels resemble chic, well-appointed youth hostels, with shared bathrooms and rooms with not much more space than your average closet.

In a city where space is at a premium, proponents of these cozy cocoons say that  the (relatively) cheap cost, great location, and hip pedigree of spots like The Jane (West Village) and The Ace Hotel New York (Flatiron District) more than make up for the diminutive size of the rooms. After all, you usually don’t come to New York to hang out in your hotel room, do you?
