Big-name attractions and larger-than-life landmarks shouldn't be missed, but neither should Cancun's lesser-known activities.
Tequila Herradura Museo Sensorial is a museum devoted solely to tequila, Mexico's national drink. At the museum, you will take a brief tour and learn where and how tequila originated and how the beverage is made. After the tour, the fun really starts. That is when you step into the tasting room so sample various Herradura brand tequilas. The admission fee is based on the number of tequilas you sample. The museum tour and tasting lasts approximately 60 minutes.
The Interactive Aquarium, located in Plaza La Isla shopping center, is a typical aquarium, but you can also swim with dolphins, feed a shark, see tropical birds, or dine in their restaurant, which overlooks the dolphin training area.
Cancun Underwater Museum, comprised of 100s of sunken statues, can be seen on snorkeling tours. Spending the day at Wet 'n Wild water park is another fun way to pass the time, while playing in the water. You can swim with dolphins at Wet 'n Wild.
El Rey, the largest site of Mayan ruins in Cancun's hotel zone, is a fun and interesting way to pass an hour or two as well. The grounds are beautiful and teeming with history.
