There's only so much shopping and sunbathing one can take. When you start itching for fresh air and open spaces, it's time to delve into the outdoor activities of Cancun and the Riviera Maya. Y
You don't need to be a fitness guru to enjoy the natural wonders of Cancun either; these activities come just as active or relaxed as you'd like. So get out of the city, and get back to nature.
The most popular things to see and do, in Cancun, require you to be outdoors and at least somewhat active. Visiting Mayan ruins sites like Chichen Itza, Coba, or Tulum can be interesting and educational, but you'll also be outside, enjoying the tropical climate, while seeing the sites.
Xcaret and Xel-Ha eco-parks offer so many exciting activities that you can't possibly see and do it all in one day. Swim with dolphins, snorkel, float down a lazy river, nap in a hammock, learn about Mayan culture, or hike through the parks while looking for tropical birds and checking out the local flora and fauna. You'll have a great time outdoors, at either of these parks.
Swimming with whale sharks, during the Summer months, or snorkeling at the new Underwater Museum are other great outdoor activities that you can do while vacationing in Cancun.
