  • Rainbow's End is New Zealand's most popular theme park and, although you may not have come to New Zealand to visit a theme park, those travelling with kids know that some days you just need to do something that is all about them. You can easily stay in the CBD (Central Business District) and just travel out to Manukau for the day when you want to visit the park, but consider the scenario that your kids have swum with dolphins, climbed up Mt. Eden, pet a sheep and all those other Kiwi favourites and you just want to spend your last day close to the airport with happy children. Enter the Manukau city hotels! For a start, you have the theme park, but there is also a decent sized shopping centre (mall) with food, shopping and a cinema, as well as plenty of local restaurants. Hotels in this area are mostly in the medium price range, many of them well-known chain hotels, and there is even a set of serviced apartments if you'd rather just have your own space to crash. Most of these hotels offer free airport shuttles in case you want hassle-free transfers after a day spent flinging yourself down logs flumes and the like.
